One of the most common questions that gets asked is "what should I eat before a workout?"
Being correctly fuelled can be the difference between smashing your workout or walking out the gym feeling as though you didn't quite put in enough effort or get the results you desired.
Here are 2 key things to focus on:
Getting your energy levels right
Getting your hydration right
Energy Levels:
Glycogen - comes from carbohydrates and provides energy for the body to function. By eating good quality carbs prior to a workout then you will be fuelled with the energy levels to perform at a high level and sustain this during a workout. Without this you will be feeling weak and drained. A pre workout meal a couple hours before your workout will have you feeling prepared and ready for your workout.
Hydration Levels:
Dehydration will end your workout quicker than you can say the word dehydration. Even a small percentage of dehydration can effect your strength and power which will in turn effect your workout quality. ensuring you are hydrated throughout the day and not just during a workout will enable your body to stay hydrated. Electrolytes are also important (check out the post from 29/07/2022 for more info on these).
Ensure these are correct and then you will be fuelled to perform at your best
